In the coastal town of Whitstable, a developer sought an efficient, eco-friendly heating solution for four newly constructed homes. The challenge? Installing a heating system that would not only reduce energy costs but also ensure year-round comfort for residents. To top it off, they wanted a modern underfloor heating system that would work seamlessly with the heating source.

Laying the groundwork
Installing underfloor heating is a meticulous process that starts with careful planning. Our team began by designing a custom layout for each home, ensuring the heating elements would cover all rooms and distribute heat evenly. We then prepared the floors by installing insulation layers, which helps direct the heat upwards and ensures maximum efficiency.
Installation
Next, we carefully installed the network of pipes for the wet underfloor heating system. These pipes are laid in a precise pattern, usually in loops, to ensure every part of the floor gets the right amount of heat. The pipes were then connected to the air source heat pump system, which would circulate warm water through the underfloor network.

Once the pipework was installed and securely fixed, we conducted thorough pressure tests to ensure there were no leaks or issues. After testing, the flooring was laid over the heating system, creating a seamless finish. The entire underfloor heating process was completed with a focus on ensuring even heat distribution and energy efficiency. And we did this for each of the four new builds in the street.
Integration with Air Source Heat Pumps
Once the underfloor heating system was set, we connected it to the air source heat pumps for each home. This integration was crucial, as the heat pumps provide the low-temperature water that the underfloor system circulates to heat the rooms. The system was calibrated to ensure it operated at peak efficiency, maintaining a comfortable temperature while minimizing energy use.
